The real issue is Obama's taking action to bypass, not just Congress, but the Constitution.
If this action is allowed to stand, it will set a precedent, and there will be no turning back from this, for there will now be a President determined to "go it alone," and who believes our Constitution is fundamentally flawed.
"Believe me, the idea of doing things on my own is very tempting. I promise you not just on immigration reform." Obama Speech to National Council of La Raza, 2011.
And he believes the Constitution is fundamentally flawed:
That the President can take action unilaterally, unconstrained by Constitutional mandates, with only minimal challenges to his actions, leaves us with a President that has already established and informed us that he believes our Constitution is flawed and should be bypassed, and a President that knows:
That he is surrounded by cowardly politicos that, although motivated to verbally protest his illegal actions, have not the fortitude, the ability, nor the knowledge and integrity to successfully thwart further violations of the Constitution.
That those who might otherwise oppose him, will not, because they fear a backlash from the "Hispanic" vote, come November.Anyone who can be coerced in such a manner has no business holding public office, after pledging to defend and uphold the Constitution.
If this is allowed to stand, you can say goodbye to our Constitutional Republic, even, as some contend, in the form of a facade.
You had better rally with your Party, your Congressional Representatives and Senators, because as your President has just boldly demonstrated, he is not waiting until November to make his move.
Are you?
