As early as February of 2012 Tucker Carlson and Vince Coglianese of the Online News organization, "The Daily Caller," were sounding alarms about the Obama administration colluding with online political pundits to attack conservatives.
The expose, titled: "Inside Media Matters: Sources, memos reveal erratic behavior, close coordination with White House and news organizations," shows that "...interviews, as well as a detailed organizational planning memo obtained by The Daily Caller, also suggest that [the non-profit liberal] Media Matters has to a great extent achieved its central goal of influencing the national media..."
Central to the expose is Media Matters' close coordination with the White House to control the content and direction of news media:
"...Media Matters has in less than a decade become a powerful player in Democratic politics. The group operates in regular coordination with the highest levels of the Obama White House, as well as with members of Congress and progressive groups around the country. Brock, who collected over $250,000 in salary from Media Matters in 2010, has himself become a major fundraiser on the left. According to an internal memo obtained by TheDC, Media Matters intends to spend nearly $20 million in 2012 to influence news coverage...Donors have every reason to expect success, as the group’s effect on many news organizations has already been profound. “We were pretty much writing their prime time,” a former Media Matters employee said of the cable channel MSNBC. 'But then virtually all the mainstream media was using our stuff.'..."While the expose appeared to have received wide circulation in conservative circles, it did not appear to have been picked up significantly by the "mainstream" media, except for the critical reviews of left-leaning media.
The series of articles nevertheless meticulously documents and details a connection between the White House and the liberal "non-profit" Media Matters, which at this writing, does not appear to have been targeted, investigated or audited by the IRS.
As it turns out, (and this is not part of the Daily Caller expose), Media Matters was not the only "non-profit" used by the administration to attack conservatives.
We learned recently that the information being obtained by meticulous survey and investigations by the Internal Revenue Service from Tea Party and Conservatives, was turned over to an organization known as "ProPublica."
In fact, the way it looks now, the "mainstream" media was used heavily by the Obama White House against conservatives via liberal "non-profit think-tanks," but that wasn't enough for the White House.
Apparently drunk with the arrogance of power, and not satisfied that it had thwarted or stopped its opponents sufficiently, and immune from scrutiny or accountability by media they considered were in their "back-pocket," the White House, as the recent scandals show, resorted to use government agencies, to not only attack conservatives, but to spy on the media as well.
The close coordination between the White House, Media matters, and other liberal think-tanks, as revealed by the Daily Caller in its Media Matters expose, belies the statements by administration officials that they "do not know" anything about the various scandals that currently plague them. The information revealed would tend to suggest quite the opposite.
